COMMENTS: The new Scottish Rite Temple, or House of the Temple, is situated on the corner of 16th and S streets. The building is very imposing, and it is the most beautiful and costly Masonic Temple in the world costing with furnishings $1,500,000. The Sphinxes guarding the approach were hewn out of great stones weighing 109,900 and 110,000 pounds, the largest ever quarried in America.
